Courses Available from Peaceful
Fight
I'd never really thought about doing any courses but if anyone wants me to visit their club then E-mail me and we can discuss it. It would probably cost accomodation and travelling expenses plus a nominal fee. If you do want me to come to see you, there is an "explanation sheet" for students of what I'd likley cover below.
Seminar in Martial Arts Philosophy : (Date)
When you read any of the martial arts magazines, every now and then you come across some article about philosophy in the arts. You know the one, it's the one with all the nebulous terms; it's all yin, yang, qi, yi, shen and jing (with occasional tenuous links to Taoism and spirituality). There's never any techniques, is apparently no use at all in a fight and generally put forward by out of shape artists well past the first flush of youth. When reading this, all the "serious" fighters immediately see that they can get more benefit out of the article on killing a man in 1000 different ways and rush on, leaving the "mental shit" to these old men. Yin and yang ? What's the point, just learn to hit harder / faster / stronger and everything will be fine won't it ? Well, maybe, but how do you know ? One day you too might be old, out of condition and tired of the fight. Wouldn't it be great to have a headstart on sounding like there's more to your life than just punch / punch / kick / kick / death / death and more death ? Well, your instructor has been kind enough to ask me to do a talk about what these old men are talking about so you can make up your own mind. Yes, in case you are wondering, I'm perfectly placed to talk at length about this subject as I am old, out of condition and will be showing absolutely no techniques (or maybe one if the mood takes me).
This seminar is mainly for open minded people of any ability (and if you are reading this, then that includes you !) and it's good of your instructor to ask me (no, I don't get out much !). Yes, the nature of the seminar means there's a lot of thinking and talking involved by you and, as I said, no techniques, but there will be a whole lot of chaos. Depending how it goes, it might even explain why martial arts help give you a strategy for your life in between the fights. If at the end you still think it's useless, then that's fine but at least you'll be able to make an informed decision (and be able talk for hours on the subject. Maybe do your own seminar and make a fortune !).
Cost (determine on individual basis).
If you want any more details, then get in touch with your instructor or check my website at www.peacefulfight.org.uk
Look forward to seeing you.
